All About Me!

Hello! I’m Laura and I am a Middle Years Education student at the University of Regina. I am from a farm near Gull Lake, Saskatchewan which is where I went to school my whole life. I enjoy playing sports and exercising as well as, helping out on my farm, playing with my dog, and spending time with my family. I have always wanted to be a teacher and have over 10 teachers in my family so I guess you could say that rubbed off on me! I am passionate about creating a classroom where my students are engaged, feel they are free to be themselves, where students feel safe, and are able to learn regardless of their differences.

Here are some photos of my farm and my dog!

I have gained experience in the classroom from the perspective of a student teacher, and educational assistant, and, of course, a student. My ECS 100 class included being placed in a grade 3/4/5 classroom at St. Katherines School in Regina and observing the teacher(s) as well as helping out within the classroom. My experience as an educational assistant took place at All Saints Catholic School in Swift Current, SK. Here I assisted teachers by doing things such as helping run activities, working individually with students, and working with a student in a wheel chair. As for my time as a student, this has taken place at Gull Lake School and the University of Regina where I am in the process of obtaining my degree in Middle Years Education (as mentioned above).

With all that being said, I am very excited to continue my educational journey and see where it takes me!

A good teacher can inspire hope, ignite the imagination, and instill a love of learning.

When my students and I discover uncharted territory to explore, when the pathway out of a thicket opens up before us, when our experience is illumined by the lightning-life of the mind—then teaching is the finest work I know.
